Employee Spotlight: Samantha Gnall, Director of Administration at TMBA

In our latest employee spotlight, we’re proud to feature Samantha Gnall, T.M. Bier & Associates’ Director of Administration. With two decades of experience at TMBA, Samantha’s career journey and her role have evolved in ways that showcase her dedication, adaptability, and profound impact on our team.

Samantha’s path to becoming the Director of Administration started nearly 20 years ago when she joined TMBA as the Executive Assistant to our founder, Mr. Ted Bier. Over 17 years, she was privileged to learn from Ted, whose trust and mentorship helped shape her into a versatile leader. Working alongside him, Samantha gained valuable insights into all departments, which allowed her to understand and contribute to each area of the business. “Ted’s guidance made me a well-rounded person, and he always pushed me to excel in ways I didn’t think I could,” she reflects.

Prior to joining TMBA, Samantha worked in administration in the food service industry, progressing to a divisional leader role overseeing 18 offices across the Northeast. This experience not only sharpened her leadership skills but also taught her how to effectively manage a team, navigate challenges, and foster a collaborative environment. These formative experiences have been instrumental in her success at TMBA, where her impact continues to grow.

As the Director of Administration, Samantha’s responsibilities span a wide range of areas. She oversees the administrative staff, facilities, and facilities staff for the entire company, which means her team interacts with every department at TMBA. She also works closely with the CEO and COO on special projects, reports, and correspondence. Her involvement across departments has made her an invaluable resource, often providing support and guidance for team members at all levels.

“I’m here to make sure our staff knows they’re not alone,” Samantha says. “I help them see the value they’re bringing to the company and how their work contributes to the bigger picture.” This inclusive approach has helped foster a strong sense of teamwork within the company, allowing employees to feel supported and empowered in their roles.

For Samantha, the most rewarding part of her role is the opportunity to learn something new every day. From understanding the intricacies of renting specialized equipment to troubleshooting billing processes, she thrives on the variety her job offers. “There’s never a day I don’t learn something new,” she explains, “and that keeps me excited and motivated.” She also finds immense satisfaction in supporting her colleagues, helping them solve problems, and creating a positive environment at TMBA.

Samantha’s role is vital to TMBA’s success, not only because of her leadership but also due to her unique ability to adapt and multitask. “Multitasking is a must,” she says. “I could be handling administrative issues one moment and facility concerns the next. Pivoting quickly is essential.” Her ability to navigate various challenges and provide consistent support has made her an essential part of our organization.

One aspect of TMBA that Samantha holds close to her heart is the company’s family-like culture. Despite TMBA’s growth over the years, the small-business feel remains intact, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. “Many of us have been here for over a decade, and we’re more than just colleagues – we’re friends,” she shares. This sense of camaraderie and unity is something she values deeply, especially after experiencing the impersonal nature of larger corporate settings in her previous roles.

Samantha is thrilled about TMBA’s future and the company’s ongoing growth. She’s seen the company expand not just in numbers but in expertise and project scope. “The size and complexity of our projects reflect how far we’ve come. Our team’s commitment to quality and our clients’ trust in us shows just how impactful TMBA has become in the industry,” she says. Samantha looks forward to taking on new challenges that push her to grow alongside the company.

Outside the office, Samantha enjoys spending time with her family and friends, working in her garden, and indulging in arts and crafts. As a new homeowner, she’s discovered a love for yard work, finding joy in cultivating her outdoor space.

Samantha’s role at TMBA is more than just a job; it’s a passion built on years of dedication, learning, and meaningful connections. Her story is a testament to the impact one person can have on a company’s culture and success. We’re grateful to have her on our team and look forward to seeing all the ways she will continue to shape TMBA’s future.
