Spotlight on Dedication: Steve Neuf
Steve Neuf, Vice President at T.M. Bier & Associates (TMBA), has had an inspiring journey within the company. With a BSME degree from Hofstra and a passion for aviation, Steve originally aspired to become an airline pilot. However, his first job out of college at TMBA in January 1993 set him on a different path. Starting as an Assistant Engineer, Steve's dedication and hard work have led him to his current role as Vice President, where he has successfully expanded the Service Department from 6 to 22 employees, with further growth anticipated.
Balancing his professional and personal life has been a significant challenge for Steve. He met his wife, Tricia, a fellow engineer, at TMBA. Their first date, which in hindsight seemed like a premonition, was attending a co-worker’s wedding. Now married for 23 years, they have a son studying engineering and a daughter still in high school. Engineering runs in the family, as Steve's father was also an engineer, making their son a third-generation engineer.
Throughout his career, Steve has learned the invaluable lesson that “the customer is always right … no matter what!” This philosophy has helped him cultivate long-term client relationships, turning small nuisance service calls into large Building Management System (BMS) accounts. Steve’s advice for a successful career is to be reliable and proactive, complete assignments without needing reminders, accept all tasks regardless of their significance, and maintain a positive attitude and smile. As he aptly puts it, no one wants to work with a difficult person!
When asked why he has stayed at TMBA for so long, Steve's answer is simple: the culture. He values the camaraderie, the extended family feel, and the nurturing atmosphere where colleagues willingly share knowledge and assist each other.
Steve Neuf’s story is a testament to his dedication, leadership, and the positive culture at TMBA that has supported his growth and success.
